On our travels through the Guizhou province of China we spent some time around the Miao ethnic minority.
One village caught our particular attention. It was rather remote, in fact, no tourists present at all, which made for a unique experience unlike any we’d had before. People from the sourrounding villages gathered for a festival, which was celebrated with music, dance and food.
Away from the main street and after following some village roads we reached the rice fields where small fish that live in the fields would scurry away from our footsteps on the small pathways. A local using a hoop made of bamboo would wade in the field and throw himself and the hoop down into the mud.
